Non-Running Workouts

Every coach will tell you that to do your best in a running event takes more than running workouts. At least in my case, because of the distance and my age, I need to use every training method to both insure my success and to reduce the chances of injury. And to do that, I will be doing other workouts that work on strenth, coordination and agility.

Strength Workouts

A lot of articles are written about “hitting the gym” to increase strength. But for someone living in a remote village in the mountains of Nepal, I have fewer options, but it is far from impossible. Bodyweight exercise is now an industry standard because it is easy and free.

Throughout my training, I will post different strengthening workouts, complete with where I got them from. So keep coming back!

Below are a few of the sources I have used in the past and will probably use again, including videos and apps, all free and easy to get.

YouTube Channels

Apps

All these apps are free or have a free version (with paid subscription to get more content). I was a longtime user of Freeletics and really loved it, but it is intense. Mostly apps use a “many exercises for short duration” which is great but I don’t like switching between so many exercise – I prefer just 3-4 and just repeat them in one workout.
