Daily Hamstring Flexibility Routine

Probably, like most people who sit a lot, I have tight hamstrings. But I know that having better flexibility can prevent injury and just make life/movement more enjoyable. So, I found this routine and will try to do it every day for a while – and later incorporate some of the moves into my regular stretching routine.

Daily Hamstring Flexibility Routine

  1. standing straight leg kicks x10/each side
  2. forward bend pulse x5
  3. on last pulse – forward bend hold, grab elbows, pulse x10
  4. on last pulse – forward bend hold, inhale/exhale, go deeper, hold x30sec
  5. on last pulse – forward bend hold, inhale/exhale, go deeper, hold x30sec
  6. standing split, right foot forward straight, back foot angled, forward bend pulse x5
  7. on last pulse – forward bend hold, inhale/exhale, go deeper, hold x30sec
  8. forward bend hold, raise forward foot, hold x30sec
  9. standing split, left foot forward straight, back foot angled, forward bend pulse x5
  10. on last pulse – forward bend hold, inhale/exhale, go deeper, hold x30sec
  11. forward bend hold, raise forward foot, hold x30sec
  12. supine, single straight leg raise left, x5
  13. on last leg, use strap to pull straight leg hold x10sec, relax x10sec, repeat pull
  14. resist strap, 50%, 70%, 90%, relax and pull farther x10sec
  15. supine, single straight leg raise right, x5
  16. on last leg, use strap to pull straight leg hold x10sec, relax x10sec, repeat pull
  17. resist strap, 50%, 70%, 90%, relax and pull farther x10sec
  18. sitting on block, bend knees to wrap feet, straighten left leg x10sec
  19. sitting on block, bend knees to wrap feet, straighten right leg x10sec
  20. sitting on block, use strap to fold forward, hold x60sec
  21. sitting on block, use strap to fold forward more, hold x60sec
  22. sitting on block, use hands to fold forward more, hold x60sec
